SCAN TO SMB AND MAC OS X


Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Server removes the formerly bundled open source Samba software and replace it with Apple’s own tools for Windows file sharing and network directory services.

Lion isn’t listening on port 139 anymore (SMB – Netbios – TCP) but on port 445 (SMB directly over TCP).

Try adding the port number to the IP Address on the printer so that it will scan to that particular port. Example… 192.168.0.4:445

SMB on ports 139 and 445 are actually different protocols: port 139 is SMB over NetBIOS over TCP, while 445 is SMB directly over TCP (“direct host SMB“).
