WIA DRIVER FROM A TWAIN DRIVER
Recently,I ran into a situation. I was installing a copier… to be exact a multifunction printer but it lacked a wia driver. I never had to use a wia driver before so I tried the safe twain… Nope not working… so I took a closer look at wia. Windows Image Acquisition service is windows answer to twain. It is a built in scanner software for windows. To put it bluntly, it is functional. Most techs would rather tear off their right arm than work with it. But times they are a changing… WIA ON TWAIN is a software package that takes a twain driver and makes a wia driver. A couple things to note… Your mileage will vary. It is not by nature technical but it is detailed. It can become really technical real quick and real fast if you need to do editing of beyond the basics of what is needed…. Thankfully, there is a handy manual that comes with the package. WIA ON TWAIN PACKAGE http://sourceforge.net/projects/wia-on-twain/?source=dlp ADDITIONAL INFO Use TWACKER to get .ds file info. Here is how… You need the scanner connected and TWAIN driver installed. Change Message Level in TWACKER to Full and Select the correct TWAIN data source. You can get the USB VID/PID or SCSI ID from device manager. You will need one of them depends on the scanner connection.
