WINDOWS XP NOT ABLE TO PING WINDOWS 7

WINDOWS XP NOT ABLE TO PING WINDOWS 7

I had an issue today where I had to get a windows xp computer to ping a windows 7 computer. The windows 7 computer just would not respond. For me the only solution was to add the following rules.

Add the following to the Windows firewall Inbound Rules:

File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request – ICMPv4-In)
File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request – ICMPv6-In)

CONSULT THE FOLLOWING ARTICLES FOR ALTERNATE APPROACHES AND IDEAS
=================================================================

WINDOWS 7 IS ON A PUBLIC NETWORK NOT A HOME NETWORK
WINDOWS FIREWALL RULE ON THE DOMAIN
TURN OFF WINDOWS FIREWALL
MISSING NIC MAC ADDRESS
WINDOWS 7/ WINDOWS XP CANN’T SEE EACH OTHER OR SHARE FOLDERS WITH EACH OTHER
WINDOWS 7: SCAN TO SMB SETUP FOR SHARED FOLDER
MCAFEE FIREWALL IS BLOCKING PING REQUESTS
