WINDOWS 10: POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO SMB SCANNING PROBLEMS

WINDOWS 10: POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO SMB SCANNING PROBLEMS

If you have upgraded windows from windows 8 or 7 to 10, then you are going to have issues with smb scanning.
( I SHOULD SAY VERY LIKELY. THERE HAVE BEEN CASES WHERE SCANNING WORKS FINE WITH NO HICCUPS)
As of this writing, there is no patch as yet available to fix the issue…
so
You have four options.

1. Check with the manufacturer of your copier that the latest firmware patch is compatible with windows 10 and if it is not installed then install it and you are done.

2. Just reinstall windows 7 and reconfigure smb scanning.

3. Try fixing smb scanning by first disabling the firewalls and see if scanning works. if it does not… you can fix it but you are better off just doing a windows 7 reinstall. The effort it takes to fix it just isn’t worth it and there is the possibility that windows 10 will become unstable.
Here is the source for the fix…
keep in mind this stuff is like magic. There is always a price and that might be your systems stability.

4. try fixing smb scanning by first disabling the firewalls, if smb scanning suddenly starts working then its a matter of configuring the firewalls
some inbound rules to think about
File and Printer Sharing (NB-Name-In), UDP 137.
File and Printer Sharing (NB-Session-In), TCP 139.
File and Printer Sharing (SMB-In), TCP 445.
File and Printer sharing (NB- Datagram-In), UDP 138.

Barring all of that there is scan to email and scan to ftp.
