BASIC FIX: THIS CONNECTION IS UNTRUSTED… GOOGLE, YAHOO, FIREFOX…

I had a funny issue occur at a client. They are still using windows xp… everything was working great… and then zone alarm showed a vsutil.dll error. We uninstalled zone alarm… but could not reinstall it… then when we tried to go online we got the connection is not trusted for every site in firefox. I started going through anything that I could find on security certificates. No luck… Then I did the sill and actually thought about the problem.

Its a security certificate error…
so I tried to set firefox to ignore the certificate…
It has an addon called skip cert error
I tried to install it and even in firefox addons I was getting the error.

I decided to read about the certificates and found that the certificates are only good until a certain date.

So I checked the year on the pc clock… it was 2156
once I changed the year to the current year…
The client was able to uninstall and reinstall zone alarm correctly
The client was able to surf firefox with no untrusted messages…

This does not mean there isn’t a virus but at the least the client can surf until they can find out if there is some kind of intrusion issue…
