If you have a picturemate throwing this error then

step 1… uninstall the printer and disconnect it… then reboot your computer

step 2… power up machine and do internal test prints

step 3… If step 2 is good then reinstall print driver

step 4… reboot and try doing test prints from pc

step 5… check cables if step 4 not successful and retry

step 6… if not successful and latest drivers installed… then upgrade firmware

step 7… reboot pc and try printing again

step 8… if still fails… call a repair shop for an estimate… and compare to going rate of machine

ps: at step 8… I would look for the nearest garbage can…
