USER AUTHENTICATION PRINTING AND MAC OS X

If ever faced with the situation where you have setup print drivers to take a user id or password, you have figured out that this is a feature built almost exclusively for windows… To work around this there is one strategy to try…

SHARING…

You can set up the driver with username and password or whatever authentication is required… You will then follow up with making the driver shared… Then you will discover the driver and install it on a Mac machine and try printing… if all works well then you should have a working driver with authentication or job accounting without any problems…

NOTE….

Make sure that the machine you are sharing from is always on.
Remember that shared print drivers can consume resources on the PC hosting the driver…
Sharing won’t work if the hosting PC is off.
