Why My PC name or Host name isn’t picked up by the copier

Why My PC name or Host name isn’t picked up by the copier

(IF YOU ARE CRAZY ENOUGH TO SET UP YOUR COPIER IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT DEPENDS ON DNS THEN TRY RESTARTING THE OFFENDING PC FIRST… IF THAT DOESN’T DO IT THEN MAKE SURE THE IP PICKED FOR THE PC IS OUTSIDE THE IP RANGE FOR THE ROUTER…)

In essence, this is the basic reason why most techs set the IP address to static for the copier and then make sure the IP address is below the IP range… DNS problems…

When the Domain Name Fails to resolve from the IP this occurs. then

type IPCONFIG /ALL

You should see DNS servers listed for the network adapter

Addresses here may well reference your router
(which is fine) or external ISP DNS servers.

If you don’t see any, or the addresses look wrong, go into your network
adapter properties and make sure you have your DNS servers to be obtained from DHCP too

They can be different where a machine gets an address from DHCP and DNS are manual.
