(Scanner doesn’t work) PING: transmit failed, error code 5.

Pinging 192.168.1.25 with 32 bytes of data:

PING: transmit failed, error code 5.

Ping statistics for 10.22.22.1:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

If you ever go to a customers site and you see something like this then more than likely someone tried to do 1 of 3 things…

1)they installed vnc and the pc went into shock
2)they tried to setup a vpn and the system went into shock
3)or the system went into shock on its own because it became allergic to antivirus or firmware or registry issues on the pc…

As a tech here is your only recourse…

Tell the customer its not your job to repair their system…
then if they twist your hand…
uninstall the antivirus and the firewall
9 times out of ten that will fix it…
and allow for scanning to work again…
from that point on… its time for a network technician to step in…
you are in beyond your depth… and its ok to run away…
it might be your job that you are saving…
