CHROMEBOOK PRINT/SCAN  FAQ

Chromebooks are meant to be operated in the cloud. Their printing service is meant to be shared via the cloud. Chromebooks do not natively work with any kind of copier manufacturer coding system. It works best with the native inbuilt print drivers.

HOW TO ADD AN NETWORK/IP PRINTER TO CHROMEBOOK
#1 Must be connected to the internet
Turn on your printer.
Connect your printer to a network. If you need help, follow your printer manufacturer’s instructions.
If you haven’t yet, turn on your Chromebook and sign in.
Connect your Chromebook to the same network as your printer. Learn how to connect to Wi-Fi.
#2 Chomrebook settings
At the bottom right, select the time.
Select Settings Settings.
At the bottom, select Advanced.
In the “Printing” section, select Printers.
Select Add Printer.
Choose your printer from the list, then select Add.
Note: If you don’t see your printer, you can add your printer manually.
Optional: If you see “Select a printer manufacturer and model,” select the type of printer you have.
#3 Print a test page
After you’ve set up your printer, you can use that printer to print from your Chromebook:
On the page you’d like to print, press Ctrl + p.
Next to “Destination,” select the Down arrow Down arrow.
Choose your printer.
Select Print.

HOW TO ADD A USB PRINTER TO CHROMEBOOK
#1 Must be connected to the internet

Connect your printer to your coumputer via usb cable. If you need help, follow your printer manufacturer’s instructions.
If you haven’t yet, turn on your Chromebook and sign in.
Connect your Chromebook to the same network as your printer. Learn how to connect to Wi-Fi.

#2 Chomrebook settings
At the bottom right, select the time.
Select Settings Settings.
At the bottom, select Advanced.
In the “Printing” section, select Printers.
Select Add Printer.
Choose your printer from the list, then select Add.

#3 TEST PRINT
After you’ve set up your printer, you can use that printer to print from your Chromebook:
On the page you’d like to print, press Ctrl + p.

Select Print.

Get the Google Play Store app or goto google play if your chromebook directly supports android apps
#1 Update your Chromebook software

#2. Sign in to the Google Play Store
At the bottom right, select the time.
Select Settings Settings.
In the “Google Play Store” section, next to “Install apps and games from Google Play on your Chromebook,” select Turn on.
Note: If you don’t see this option, your Chromebook doesn’t work with Android apps.
In the window that appears, select More.
You’ll be prompted to agree to the Terms of Service. When you’ve read and agreed, select I Agree.
#3 Print a test page

HOW TO SHARE A PRINTER THATS INSTALLED ON CHROMEBOOK

PRIVATE SHARING
#1 You can share your printer with anyone who has a Google Account.
On your computer, open Chrome Chrome.
Make sure you’re signed in with the same Google Account you used to set up your printer. Learn how to sign in to Chrome.
Go to google.com/cloudprint#printers.
Click your printer.
Click Share.
In the box that appears, enter the Gmail address or Google Group you want to share with.
Optional: To let a person rename and share access to your printer, change “Can print” to “Can manage.”
Click Share.

NOTE: If you share with a Google Group, the group admin will get an email asking them to approve printer access for their group. When the admin approves, that group can use the printer.
Share printer with everyone

PUBLIC SHARING
#A Set up public sharing
On your computer, open Chrome Chrome.
Make sure you’re signed in with the same Google Account you used to set up your printer. Learn how to sign in to Chrome.
Go to google.com/cloudprint#printers.
Click your printer, then click Share.
Next to “Private,” click Change.
Choose Anyone with the link has access to the printer.
Click Save.
#B Share printer
In the “Link to share” box, copy the link.
Share the link with whoever wants to print from your printer.
Optional: To change how many pages someone can print per day, click 15 pages/day.

COMMON CAUSE FOR PROBLEMS
On your computer, open Chrome Chrome.
Make sure you’re signed in with the same Google Account you used to set up your printer. Learn how to sign in to Chrome.
Go to google.com/cloudprint#printers.
Click your printer, then click Share.
Remove a person or group.

TURN OFF PRINTER SHARING
On your computer, open Chrome Chrome.
Make sure you’re signed in with the same Google Account you used to set up your printer. Learn how to sign in to Chrome.
Go to google.com/cloudprint#printers.
Click your printer, then click Share.
Next to “Anyone with the link has access to the printer,” click Change.
Choose Private.
Click Save.

CONNECT YOUR CHROMEBOOK WITH A SHARED FOLDER ON ANOTHER COMPUTER
IF YOUR CHROMEBOOK HAS THE FEATURE BUILT IN GOTO PLAYSTORE
IF NOT INSTALL THE SHARING APP
Go to the Chrome Web Store and install the app called Network File Share for Chrome OS.
Open the Files app on your Chromebook.
On the left side, click Add new services.
Choose Network File Share for Chome OS.
